Mark Jenkins’ Sculptures Cute.

Mark Jenkins’ absurdist sculptures are always witty and mostly appealing.

But, inevitably, they prompt uncomfortable and nauseating questions human beings would really rather not deal with…

Jenkins’ practice of street art is to use the “street as a stage” where passersby become actors.

Many of his installations have resulted in intervention by the authorities whom he also regards as actors. Most of his early outdoor works were non-commissioned.

According to the local news, police removed the sculptures after a flood of calls came in for people sleeping on billboards.

Anybody whose artwork generates emergency calls to the police are something we should all strive for.

Imagine walking around the corner and seeing one of these.

American artist Mark Jenkins is fond of installing sculptures in public that hurtle you screaming into the uncanny valley.
