Acura ZDX – 2010
The ZDX defiantly blurs the line between modern luxury and flexible utility. In addition to a powerful 300-hp, 3.7-liter, VTEC® V-6 engine, Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®), and signature technologies such as AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic and Weather™13, it offers new features like the available Integrated Dynamics System and blind spot information system that define the next era of Acura innovation.
Acura’s largest engine is so powerful, it rivals many V-8s. This 3.7-liter, VTEC® V-6 dishes up 300 horsepower and 270 lbs.-ft. of torque, while operating with a smoother, more responsive feel, thanks to significant weight reduction measures.
* Magnesium-alloy cylinder head covers that use hardened aluminum cylinder sleeves help improve vehicle balance and the power-to-weight ratio.
* A forged crankshaft results in lower weight and increased strength.
* A high-flow exhaust system increases the engine’s power efficiency.
* The Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system adjusts throttle response so it can be easy to modulate in slow speeds, yet extremely responsive when high performance is called upon.
* EPA fuel mileage27 is 16 / 23 mpg (city/highway), which, combined with a 21-gallon fuel capacity, gives the ZDX the potential for attaining a 400-mile or more cruising range.
Though it has the same all-weather attributes of conventional all-wheel drive, Acura developed its revolutionary Super
Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) system to enhance high-performance dry-road handling. The result is enhanced high-performance cornering that simply can’t be matched by front, rear, or conventional all-wheel drive systems.
* The system continuously determines the optimal level of power distribution between the front and rear wheels, and also between the rear wheels.
* Power distribution is based on an analysis of wheel speed, steering angle, lateral G-force and yaw rate.
* The system reduces understeer and increases stability by turning the outside rear wheel slightly faster than the rest of the wheels, rotating the vehicle through the turn.

The AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic- feature helps you steer clear of gridlock by providing continuously updated traffic information in major metropolitan areas across the 48 contiguous United States.
* Interstates and expressways are color-coded to indicate traffic flow levels.
* Icons indicate the location of incidents and traffic conditions affected by construction and weather.
* Traffic Rerouting™ will suggest an alternative route if the system determines that the alternative is at least two minutes or 10% quicker than the plotted route.
* The information is aggregated by NAVTEQ™ from multiple sources, including highway patrol incident reports and transportation departments.
* The information is updated approximately every 90 seconds.
* Following the 90-day free trial period, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic data services are available on a subscription basis for a fee, which can be combined or separate from other XM® subscriptions.
The available Integrated Dynamics System (IDS) can adjust suspension stiffness in a split second, based on driving conditions. This allows the ZDX to remain comfortable during highway cruising, yet firm when the road requires high-performance handling. In addition, the driver can adjust the suspension and steering feel through the Sport and Comfort settings.
* The dampers—also known as shock absorbers—are filled with a fluid that significantly thickens in the presence of a magnetic field. The stronger the field, the stiffer the damper.
* Each damper can adjust from soft to race-car stiff in as little as five milliseconds.
* The Sport setting creates a firmer baseline for the dampers while they continue to adjust according to conditions. Likewise, the setting reduces overall power assist to the steering system for increased road feel, though the assist continues to increase at lower speeds.
* The IDS is always on whenever the ignition is engaged.
The ZDX may be equipped with Acura’s new blind spot information system that can assist you when making lane changes.
* If the system detects a vehicle in an adjacent lane in the ZDX’s “alert zone” (approximately from the rear half of the ZDX to half a car-length back), an indicator will appear on that side’s windshield pillar.
* If the driver activates the turn signal in the direction where a vehicle has been detected in an alert zone area, the pillar light will begin to flash.
* No sounds are emitted by the system, in order to avoid disturbing the driver or passengers.
* The indicators only light up when the ZDX is traveling above 6 mph, so they stay off when parking, at stop lights, and in stop-and-go traffic.
