The coastal port of Liepaja is widely considered to be the home of Latvian rock music and every summer since 2001 it has celebrated this heritage with the Baltic Beach Party, the event now attracting an impressive 45,000 people. The music is spread over five stages hosting everything from pop acts to a ‘Salsa Carnival’.
There are also non-musical events, including sports such as beach volleyball and beach football. The event will also host a lingerie and bikini fashion show to celebrate Latvia as a major centre of lingerie manufacture during the Soviet era. There will also be face painting and other entertainment for children.
