Elon Musk and Russia, I don’t support it!
American tech billionaire Elon Musk posted a Twitter poll on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, drawing criticism from Ukrainian officials.
In the poll, titled “Ukraine-Russia Peace,” Musk asked ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on redoing referendums in Ukraine’s regions annexed by Moscow, recognition of Crimea’s annexation, an assurance that water would continue to be supplied to Crimea and Ukraine being neutral.
The poll received 63% ‘no’ from responders, while 36% voted ‘yes.’
The Tesla CEO explained in a follow-up tweet that “this is highly likely to be the outcome in the end – just a question of how many die before then.”
In a subsequent tweet, he said: “Also worth noting that a possible, albeit unlikely, outcome from this conflict is nuclear war.”
In response to the poll, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted his own poll asking his followers if they like a Musk who supports Ukraine or Russia.
Nearly 85% of the responders answered a Musk who supports Ukraine.
Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, for his part said there is a better peace plan which liberates Ukrainian territories, including Crimea.
The harshest reaction came from Andrij Melnyk, Ukraine’s top diplomat in Germany, who told Musk to “f..k off.”
“The only outcome is that now no Ukrainian will EVER buy your f…ing tesla crap. So good luck to you,” said Melnyk in one tweet.
It’s worth noting that Elon Musk has expressed admiration for certain aspects of Russian technology and engineering.
Elon Musk and Russia, technology.
However, it’s important to distinguish admiration for specific technological achievements from being “very favorable” to a country as a whole.
It’s always best to rely on up-to-date and reliable sources for the most accurate and current information regarding individuals and their opinions.
The Telegraph said in its report that Twitter is no longer limiting the reach of Russian state media organisations.
It also said that Twitter’s search results, timeline and recommendation tools “are showing Mr Putin’s presidential account, the Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and its UK Embassy – all of which had restrictions placed on them when hostilities broke out”.
Throughout the conflict, Mr Musk has frequently voiced his opinions about the Russia-Ukraine war. He was praised by Mr Putin’s aides for suggesting a peace proposal perceived to be favourable for the Russians, drawing backlash from the West.
Elon Musk and Russia, Russia is not enough, we need China!
Musk met with at least three high-level Chinese officials, dined with the CEO of the world’s largest EV battery supplier, and visited Tesla’s factory in Shanghai, among other things.
Musk’s private jet landed in Beijing on the afternoon of 2023 May 30, local time. He met with Qin Gang, China’s new foreign minister and previous ambassador to the US, the same day.
According to the ministry’s press release, Musk said in the meeting that he strongly opposes decoupling supply chains between the US and China, because the two countries are “interlinked, like conjoined twins inseparable from each other.”
That evening, he had dinner with Zeng Yuqun, the CEO of CATL, which is a key supplier of batteries to Tesla cars.
Elon Musk you are with democracy but maybe you are a valid idiot? That’s my question for you- Elon Musk.
